Kari Anderson wins Miss Nevada International 2012
Las Vegas, April 9th, 2012. Twelve delegates competed in the Miss Nevada International pageant at the College of Southern Nevada Performing Arts Center, and Kari Anderson took home the crown. She will represent Nevada in the Miss International pageant to be held in Chicago in July.
As is common in the more prestigious pageants, the delegates have a “platform” – a cause that they intend to support, using their titles as virtual megaphones to bring awareness to the issues. Kari’s platform is “Take a stand, lend a hand,” a slogan adopted by the U.S. Government’s anti-bullying program. Kari, who also won the pageant’s fitness award, hardly seems likely to appear in the role of a victim, but during the question session on stage she acknowledged that she had experienced bullying herself, and reminded us that the problem was widespread.
